The Daily Box Thought

I am finding a new energy to work my ass off on this blog except sometimes I think I am a little obsessive. Hah hah!

With the running of the new business I have learned many new things.  I have gotten to work with several members of the media and I have noticed now more than ever how important attitude and image are for how well someone is liked.  I haven’t met one person yet in the media/sales field that comes off as rude, unfriendly, or tacky.  Why is this? It is part of their jobs to always have a sales face on whether it be selling me advertising or selling a story to the television audience.  So my cousin and I have made it a goal to work on complimenting everyone for even the smallest things and having good attitudes.  It is so important to make a great image, because you never know when someones impression of you will affect your success in life.

After a busy week, we are headed off for a 4th of July Vacation, so I will check back in on Tuesday the third.  Have a great rest of the week and weekend.

It has been nearly 4 weeks since I made my last blog post and I guess it is a shame that I have put so much work into my blog and have neglected it.  So I am back to start blogging again with fairly frequent updates, more like 3-4 per week.

First off, I want to talk about my new business.  Since I have started this business with my cousin we have made it on two of the three major tv news stations and have had an article written in the major area newspaper.  The business is Nevada Poop Scoop.  That is right, I am making money by picking up dog waste!  It is a strange thing, but it is turning out to be very viable in my city.  You can visit our website at NVPoopScoop.com and view the news video and read the newspaper article.  The videos are pretty fun with jokes such as “Entremanuer” or rather than going from “Red to Black” it is going from “Red to Brown”.

Since this blog is about my road to success, I plan to keep people updated on my business ventures. In the next few days, I am on a mission to let my blog gain steam again and then I will finish on my “Image is Everything” Series and then move on to some exciting new topics about suceeding in life.

Welcome back readers! I hope to hear from you soon.

I have been absent for last couple days, because I am in the process of trying to start a business.  I have spent the last 2 days solid working on my idea and trying to jump start it as fast as possible.  Success comes with hard work and if it doesn’t work out than at least I learned something from it and can use that knowledge to do it better next time around.  Today, we are hitting the business hard and are shooting with 75% confidence that we will end up on the local news for some free advertising.  Yes, we are going to extraordinary measures to get free advertising, but sometimes you just have to take some calculated risks to become successful.  So if I make it on the news, you bet this site will be the first place to show it and it will be super non the less.  I have a few more days to hit it hard and then a fun bachelor party filled weekend, so I will be back ready to hit it hard on Tuesday.   Unitl then, I will probably fit in a few posts here and there.  If you haven’t gotten the chance, take the time to view some of the older articles by thumbing through the categories section.

Have a great week!

This is a story I wrote about a Backpacking trip in which I screwed up big time and almost made a very bad situation.  It is a long story, but the lessons learned are invaluable.  Success comes with learning from mistakes made in life.  It is an interesting story to tell and probably pretty interesting to read, so take the time to read it and tell me what you think.

Summer 2006 Backpacking Trip Disaster

Near the beginning of the summer, I decided to take my Little Brother Luke from Big Brothers Big Sisters on his first backpacking trip to Star lake which is somewhere between Lake Tahoe and Carson Valley in the Sierra Mountains. It was around the middle of July, when I set the date to go on our trip to the weekend of August 12th.

Now on the week before the hike I stayed very busy between work and other various events, one of which was attending an orienteering class. In this orienteering class, the instructor emphasized how important it was to have a good map of the area in which one was hiking. At the time, I kind of baulked at the idea of needing a map for I was just planning on taking the Tahoe Rim trail to Star Lake. How hard could it possibly be? So on the day of the hike, Luke, my brother Ben and I quickly gathered our supplies and headed off to the trail head. The day was beautiful with the temperature around the mid-90’s and not a cloud in sight. We drove through Gardnerville and down Highway 88 before turning to Highway 89 to get to the well known dirt road which would eventually lead us to the trailhead. From years past I remember having to pass 2 bridges before getting to the trail head, so I looked out for the bridges and felt comfortable as things looked familiar from the last time I had been on the road. We made our way past the two bridges and followed the path which looked most traveled and later ended up at a nice circle dead end with a trail head. I was proud of myself for finding the trail head so easily. We lathered ourselves with plenty of sunscreen and even practiced some of the skills Luke and I had learned from our orienteering class. Soon after, we headed down a nice trail with the intention of ending up at Star Lake. Within 5 minutes, something didn’t seem quite right because we were climbing straight up a mountain and Luke was already complaining about his shoulders hurting. It was only about 10 minutes into the hike when I decided Luke wasn’t going to be able to carry a backpack, so we distributed Luke’s equipment between Ben and me. I knew in my mind that about 1 mile up the path was when the trail would join the Tahoe Rim trial, so we continued to hike. (more…)

I said I would run a contest to compliment my Google Keyword Challenge for the top “Hopeless Romantic” Spot, so here it is.   The prize is going to be a gift certificate to Ruth’s Chris Steakhouse valued at $50(or romantic restaurant if Ruth’s Chris is unavailable in your area).  This one should be fun, because if you win, you are not just winning for yourself, but rather for you and your date.  I like the idea because being a Hopeless Romantic is very selfless and by taking someone special to dinner that is just great.

The deal is, that if you win, you must plan a romantic evening for someone special and then send me your plan.  I will review it and post it, so make it fun and entertaining. It must meet the requirements for a hopeless romantic evening by having it be somewhat of a surprise to your date.  That means you must do something that your date doesn’t know about that will make the evening more exciting.  On the date, take a picture of you and your date and send it to me.  If you give me permission, I would like to post the picture, but I don’t have to.

HOW TO ENTER:

1.) Leave a comment about why you should win and what you preliminary plans for a hopeless romantic date would be. The contest will be judged based on your response.

2.) Digg and Reddit my story by clicking the links.(I can see if it was clicked), also Favorite Me on Technorati if you want.

3.) Tell all your friends internet savvy or not.

4.)Additional emphasis on entries for those who mention this contest on their blog using the following text.

Adam from TheAdamBox.com is making it easy for you to be a hopeless romantic for an evening by giving away a $50 gift certificate for a romantic outing. Enter Here.

The Contest will be run until I recieve at least 25 applicants.

Though this article was posted before, I felt that it fit perfect with the next item in the Image is Everything Series. It is also a very fun and touching article to read, especially when you get to the story about Jerry.
We all have our ups and downs, but do we ever think about who else our attitude may affect? If you think about the last time you were in a bad mood who was it benefiting? Did you feel better because you were depressed about your day? How do you think your friends/family feel when you are in a bad mood? I think bad moods are a flaw with the human mind. In most cases it does nothing but harm the mental well being of people. In some cases it could be said that attitude’s drive motivation such as failing an exam in school may cause one to work harder for the next test. But what’s to say that one can’t have a positive attitude about the present and the future by learning from the past and improving in the future.

How to have a positive attitude?

Learn from the past, don’t dwell on it. Live for today and make today a good day.

It is a hard thing to just forget about the past, but when you find yourself dwelling on the past, just ask yourself “How is this helping me by dwelling on something that is in the past?” If there is not a clear answer, then you need to stop thinking about the past. Move forward with positive outlook learning from the past to avoid the events that made you have a poor attitude.

  • Ask yourself “How is this helping me by dwelling on something that is in the past?”
  •  Continuously remind yourself to be positive in the present.
  • Avoid people or change activities that make you feel bad.
  • Stop before speaking and think about the positive side of every situation. Remember positivity creates positive people, so speaking positivity is a must.
  • Eliminate Stress as it is the most common cause of a bad attitude.
    1. Try meditating for 15 minutes when stress has you down.
    2. Exercise regularly and whenever additional stress relief is needed.

Having a good attitude has so many great benefits. By consistently striving to have a good attitude, your feeling about life in general will be better, your relationships will be fuller, and it will lead to success in whatever you do. As far as success, creating friends and networking is essential and having a positive attitude will make that task much easier.

Don’t make excuses, because your life is your own and only you can control what makes you have a poor attitude. Changing is hard, but the consequences of not changing can bring much harder times in the future. One will never know what they are missing until they have successfully become a positive person.

To motivate you to make a change in your attitude about life, here is a short story about a guy with a perfect attitude. Notice how people feeling about him and how his attitude helps him. (more…)
